<p>Between 1955 and 1959, a Greek-Cypriot paramilitary group called EOKA rebelled against British colonial rule in Cyprus. In response, the British authorities declared a state of emergency. </p><p>A young Cypriot lawyer named Renos Lyssiotis joined EOKA.
