The purpose of this course is for interpreters like you to comfortably and effectively communicate with an international crowd. This is done through the International Interpretation Equation, or IIE, an interpretive program development how-to technique, and essentially, in addition to Tilden's six principles. We could actually call this equation Principle No. 7.

When Principle 7 is carried out effectively, interpretation becomes a work of art. Therefore, our goal within this course is to learn the art of international interpretation. Within the equation, interpretation opportunity, I.O., is the foundation of all interpretive activities.
