There are several roadblocks or barriers to international interpretation. These barriers can be damaging and disrupt the flow of information. Interpreters should know what these barriers are and do their best to avoid them. Barriers can be as simple as using American slang or feeling anxious when speaking to strangers, or can be as harmful as inflicting your own personal beliefs and prejudices on others, that is, practicing ethnocentrism.
