Somebody wants to become a SOC analyst. What are the key skills that they could learn to do that? I would say start with the foundation. Know how computers work and operating systems, what really goes on under the hood. But the big thing is going to be networking. How do IP addresses work? How do subnets work? You know common protocols and what they do. Everything sort of builds on these foundations. Once you have those foundations, you can start doing more hands-on things. TryHackMe has an absolutely amazing SOC Level 1 path. And also pairing that with projects. If you can stand up a sim, for example, and deploy basic log collection agent, just play around with Splunk or the Elastic Stacker.

something just being able to like have projects at the ready and be able to talk about them in interviews i think goes a long way i would say those three things honestly build the foundations get some hands-on training make some projects that you can talk about
