常见问题

Upload the call recording (most phones and VoIP apps export MP3, M4A, or WAV) and STT.ai transcribes it with timestamps and speaker labels. For ongoing calls, record first using your phone or app, then upload the file.

Yes. Speaker diarization separates the parties (Speaker 1, Speaker 2, ...) even on a single mixed-channel recording, and you rename them to real names in the editor. If your recording has separate channels per caller, accuracy is even higher.

It depends entirely on where you and the other party are. Some jurisdictions allow recording with only one party's consent, while others require everyone on the call to consent. STT.ai can't give legal advice — check the call-recording and consent laws that apply in your location and the other party's before recording.

Phone audio is typically narrowband and compressed, so expect a few points lower accuracy than studio audio — around 88-93% on clean calls. A direct app recording beats a speakerphone-into-the-room recording, which adds echo and background noise.

Yes. STT.ai includes 600 free minutes per month for call recordings. Paid plans starting at $5/month add longer calls, private transcripts, and priority processing.

Yes. Support, sales, and interview calls transcribe well, and speaker labels make it easy to separate the agent from the customer for QA and coaching. Batch-upload many recordings via the REST API for high call volumes.

Yes. Call audio is processed and deleted by default, and Pro plans add client-side encryption so transcripts are unreadable without your key. For regulated workflows, Private Cloud keeps recordings inside your own infrastructure.

Yes. 100+ languages are supported with auto-detection, and bilingual calls are handled by switching language mid-recording. You can translate the finished transcript afterwards if needed.

Most call recordings are MP3, M4A, WAV, or AMR — all supported, along with 20+ other formats. Export the transcript to TXT, DOCX, PDF, or JSON for records and CRM imports.

Free users can transcribe calls up to one hour each; paid plans extend that to 8+ hours, which covers long support sessions, depositions, and conference calls in a single pass.

Yes. The built-in editor lets you correct words, rename speakers, and delete sensitive segments before exporting — useful when a transcript contains personal or payment information you need to remove.

You can point the live-transcription tool at system audio for VoIP or speakerphone calls to get captions in real time. For most phone calls, recording the call and uploading the file afterwards gives cleaner results.
